Circuit Breaker - Primary Current Injection and Vacuum Bottle Testers

Get Reliable Breaker Readings

Testing circuit protection devices is critical to ensure the safety of every electrical system. Electro Rent has high-quality circuit breaker testers that can help. Since primary injection testing requires specialized testing sets particularly in high power applications, it can be hard to find the right device to get the job done. We have versatile and technologically advanced options to match a wide range of breaker sizes—from low-voltage and molded-case to direct acting AC circuit breakers.

Electro Rent provides a full range of primary current injection test equipment from suppliers including ETI, Megger, and Multi-Amp. With Electro Rent’s flexible acquisition options you can rent, lease, or purchase primary current injection testers to meet your short and long-term needs.

ETI Circuit Breaker Test Set

ETI Circuit Breaker Test Set

  • Capable of testing circuit breakers up to 6000 amperes continuous.
  • Input: 240VAC (reduced output) 480 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz.
  • Tests low-voltage, molded-case, and metal-clad, direct acting AC circuit breaker.
  • Can be used on high current applications and heat runs.
  • Programmable output phase angle with SCR controller.
  • Motorized vernier with manual override for fast adjustment.
  • Preset ON times for convenient jogging of output currents.
  • Rugged solid copper Universal & Horizontal ½” & ¾” Output Stabs.

Using SCRs, the P1-6000 eliminates closing time errors. Initiation at the zero crossover point eliminates DC offset in the current waveform and results in accurate, repeatable test results even with high speed, short duration currents.

Megger Circuit Breaker Tester

Megger Circuit Breaker Tester

  • Fully compliant NEMA AB-4 circuit breaker test set.
  • Capable of testing circuit breakers up to 6000 amperes continuous.
  • Input: 480VAC, 50 or 60 HZ.
  • Ideally suited for industrial, utility, and testing service company use.
  • Accurate, repeatable test results are ensured even with currents of very short duration.

Use of digitally-controlled SCRs to initiate output of the test set eliminates closing time error and ensures precise initiation of the output current waveform. The digital control of the SCRs allows the unit to initiate at any point within 90 degrees of the zero crossover point of the output-current waveform. This set was designed specifically to test all low-voltage power and molded-case circuit breakers equipped with thermal, magnetic, or solid-state trip devices.

Megger Circuit Breaker Tester

Megger Circuit Breaker Tester

This test set has similar capabilities to the Megger DDA-6000, but it also includes these features:

  • Portable, fully compliant NEMA AB-4 circuit breaker test set.
  • Capable of testing low-voltage power and molded-case circuit breakers up to 1600 amperes continuous.
  • Input: 480 VAC; 50 or 60 Hz.
  • Output of the test set is easily adjustable from zero to the maximum current available.

This test set may also be used for other high-current applications, such as verifying the ratio of current transformers and performing heat runs or primary injection testing of high-voltage breakers and their associated protective relays.

ETI Portable Circuit Breaker Test Set

ETI Portable Circuit Breaker Test Set

  • Portable circuit breaker test set.
  • Rated 9.8 KVA continuous for testing up to 1600 amperes.
  • 120 VAC (reduced output), 208-240 VAC (+/- 10% Switch Selectable); 50 or 60 Hz.
  • Selectable output connections to accommodate various impedance loads.
  • Variable pulse times for convenient preset output current.
Multi-Amp Circuit Breaker Test Set

Multi-Amp Circuit Breaker Test Set

  • Input: 208 and 240VAC; 50 or 60Hz.
  • Digital memory ammeter and multi-range timer.
  • Solid-state output initiate circuitry to eliminate contact maintenance.
  • Verifies the ratio of current transformers and testing ground-fault trip devices.

The time-delay characteristics of the motor overload relays and molded-case circuit breakers rated up to 500 amperes can be tested when using the recommended test procedure for the time delay of thermal devices at three times their rating. Higher currents are available for the short duration required to test an instantaneous trip element up to 5000 amperes through a typical 500 amp.

Multi-Amp Circuit Breaker and Overload Relay Tester

Multi-Amp Circuit Breaker and Overload Relay Tester

  • Tests high-current circuit breakers, over-load relays, and ground-fault trip devices.
  • Up to 225 amp frame size.
  • Input: 115VAC, 50 or 60 Hz.
  • Calibrate magnetic overload relays.
  • Time-delay characteristics of molded-case circuit breakers rated to 225 amperes.
  • Higher currents are available for short duration testing.
  • Digital memory ammeter and multi-range timer.
  • Solid-state output initiate current.
  • Can verify the ratio of current transformers, testing panelboard ammeters, and voltmeters
Megger Primary Current Test Set

Megger Primary Current Test Set

  • Lightweight, portable high-current primary current injection.
  • Ground-fault trip devices and overcurrent relays up to 125 amp frame size.
