The DVB-C digital cable TV measurement application is one of more than 25 measurement applications in the Keysight X-Series, an evolutionary approach to signal analysis that spans instrumentation, measurements and software, transforming the X-Series signal analyzers into standards-based transmitter testers. The DVB-C application provides one-button, standard-based power and modulation analysis capabilities to help design, evaluate and manufacture digital cable exciters and transmitters. The DVB-C measurement application includes three standards of digital video broadcasting over cable TV: J.83/A (DVB-C), J.83/B (DOCSIS DS) and J.83/C (ISDB-C).
RF transmitters, modulators and components testing:
- One-button measurement helps to improve speed with the standard presets and auto detection
- Multiple modulation quality measurements help test the DUT full performance
- Advanced settings help R&D customers trouble-shooting
- Remote SCPI command increase the manufacturing test efficiency
Signal analysis:
- J.83/A (DVB-C), J.83/B (DOCSIS DS), J.83/C (ISDB-C)
- Transmitter RF measurement, analog baseband measurements with PXA BBIQ or MXA BBIQ hardware
- One-button measurements with pass/fail per the standard and standard default settings
- Runs inside PXA, MXA, and EXA signal analyzers
Measurements:
- Power Measurement: Channel Power, ACP, CCDF, SEM
- Modulation accuracy measurement: Constellation, MER/EVM (MER RMS/Peak), BER, frequency error, amplitude error, phase error, quadrature error, amplitude imbalance
- Channel frequency response and channel impulse response
- Provide advanced settings like symbol rate, adaptive equalizer, meas interval, out-of-band filtering, filter alpha, BER count etc
Performance (hardware dependent):
- Power accuracy: Up to ±0.19 dB (95th percentile)
- Spectrum emission mask dynamic range at 4.3 MHz offset: Up to 97.8 dB (102.8 dB typical)
- MER floor: Up to 43 dB (DVB-C, 64QAM with Adaptive EQ off)
- Analysis bandwidth: PXA/MXA up to 160 MHz; EXA up to 40 MHz
